Le petit Prince

Since my teenage years I collect 'Le petit Prince' by Antoine de saint Exupéry in different languages. 

I was lucky to find it in Icelandic this summer.

Today I went to the bookstore for some books and my eye felt immediately on this book in the shop window.

'Late summer' walk

We made a nice 'late summer' (or do I have to say early autumn) walk with all its beauty. The temperature was lovely, the smell is changing into autumn too. Over a few weeks the leaves will change color. At this moment everything is still green. 

At home a magazine was waiting for me to read and I'm working on my second sleeve of a new sweater with Jamieson's spindrift. The color is Storm. Perfect for this time of the year.

It's a very rainy day, perfect to work on a new tile block using my windmill fabric.

 A dear reader sent me a gift. She told me I would like it :-)

When I opened the envelop I was blown away. I never, never expected to find my favorite fabric in the envelop. I love to use it and I use always a little amount in my quilts afraid that I ran out of the fabric. (it was a fat quarter) Like here.

Now I have enough of this fabric for years. I have already an idea for a first use.

My first knitted pair of socks.

Here they are: my first knitted pair of socks :-) 

It was a pleasure to knit them.

Tho, I have some issues to learn like how to pick up stitches by the heel.

I used Susan's B. Anderson's pattern. Her instructions are so clear and easy to follow. She has great video tutorials too. Like how to do the kitchener stitch to close the toe.

Yarn: Lara Grossa Meilenweit. 

Needle size, 2,5 mm dpns.

DD3 with her new quilt. She just came home from a few days away and found it on her bed.

And what I'm doing since my quilt is finished. 

I ordered batting for the next quilt I want to baste 

and while waiting in I'm knitting my first socks.

A few days ago I was finally sewing the binding for the quilt which has my focus last weeks. 

Here it is, finished and well.

Fabric with memories. Do you see the ducks. A blog reader send it to me when my dad passed away.

The strawberries is one of my first fabrics.

The flower fabric on the right from the ducks is from a bedsheet from the first bed of DD3.

This quilt is made for DD3. 

The windmill fabric is a gift from a quilt shop when I ordered fabrics. I love it so much that I use a little piece in almost every quilt I made since I got the fabric. 

In this quilt are a lot of 'ugly fabrics' which I never liked, (like the one under the windmill, and the purple on the picture below) and somehow in this quilt they work :-)  

The orange fabric is from a little piece of a friend.

The yellow is one of my first reproduction fabrics.

 And here it is on DD3's bed. The place where it belongs.

The quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted. The batting is quilters dream request 100% cotton.

A little impression of a walk from home to the beach. 

Back home I knitted a swatch of Holst Garn Coast. This yarn is so soft.  I will find out if it is working for a sweater I want to knit. 

Meanwhile I'm quilting on this quilt which I hope to finish coming week.

Knitted sweater

 A little while ago I was inspired by Tracey to knit a sweater for myself. The first for years.
 I knitted once a sweater when I was 16 (at that time was oversized fashion, so easy to knit something for myself, you took a big size and it always fits) After that I discovered sewing and I didn't knit for a longgggg time.

Back to this sweater.
I chose for Holst Garn Supersoft yarn.
I'm really fond of Shetland yarn after my experience with my fair isle cowl 
It's the feel, the smell, the sheep, the nature of shetland what I like.

I found a nice pattern at Ravelry.
So I started with knitting a gauge swatch in two color combinations.
I measured my body so I could choose the right size. (this time oversized isn't fashion :-/ )
In my opinion I did everything to make the sweater fit at the end.  I don't like the idea of knitting for weeks and the sweater won't fit at all (or if I don't like it) 

I started somewhere around May 14.

Two days ago.

Washed and blocked. For two days I didn't dare to try it on. I was so afraid it didn't fit or if it didn't suits me.....

Worried for nothing. 

I love it! 

I love the model with pleats at the front, the little shaping on the waist, the neckline, the yarn, the color and the lightweight.

I followed almost the complete pattern size M.

 I only makes it a little longer because I'm tall and I changed the neckline a little bit.
