10 years of blogging

Three quilt projects I want to finish soon. The yarn is from Kate Davies club.

Today I it's my blogging anniversary. I blog for 10 years! How that can happen.
10 years I'm giving you a peek of my creativity and my life with pictures and a little text.
I do remember the time I started blogging. I was a little naive, I thought that no one could find me. I liked to be in a small community of quilters. I never thought that I'd be still blogging after 10 years.
Through the years more women started a blog and I came in contact with women all over the world.
I made friends and I even still have contact with a few women from the first hour. No words can describe how precious these friends are to me.

In ten years I have two Quilting of the Past blogs. The first I closed a little while ago because I realized that there are 10 years of my life on the web. 10 years is a long time. Is that what I want?

I have (almost) done three challenges of 365 days pictures. I love this project so much. It is like a diary and it keeps my eye awake for photography moments.

I will open all my blogs this month for public. You can find them in the tabs below the header.
Maybe you like to look back for a moment. Next month I will close the older blogs.

Through 10 years I've had lot's of moments that I doubt about blogging. So now and then I'm serious thinking to quit. It's a hate love affair. Because I'm not anonymous means that everyone can see what I'm doing and also where I've been etc. At this moment I'm more selective of what I share as in the beginning.

My english is something I wish I could do so much better. I had help and a teacher for a few years. (Thank you so much Kathie)  You can notice that in my earlier posts. Right now I'm writing on my own feet. That means that it isn't perfect anymore.

I know it is a 'beautiful life' I show you on my blog. Like a 'magazine'. That's ok to me. There are enough hard times these days and making up the world a little more beauty is like giving a little smile into this hard world.

I will thank you, my readers, I will thank you all who support me through the years.
I will thank you who share a little of your life too, your blogs and creativity inspire me so much!
I will thank the readers who left a comment. I appreciate every comment I've got! I read them all. I will thank the readers who took time to send me an email. Finding a comment or email in my mailbox make my day sing.

Well, last week a friend told me about my blog this:
It shares a little about your life but leaves a little mystery, too.

Lucy

A beautiful post, Lucy. I've been happy to read along since your early days. I, too, have blogged for 10 years and share your feelings about the experience. It's difficult to step away, however, when one has made so many lovely friends around the world. I'm happy you're still here.

I probably a more recent follower and I love your blog. The 365 day pictures are wonderful. I lived in Maastricht for two 5 month periods and love your country and its people. I love being reminded in pictures of the beauty there.
Thanks.

I agree with you about sharing beautiful things on your blog - too much ugliness & unhappiness in the world - I'd prefer not to read about someone else's problems, but instead enjoy an uplifting moment or two. Thanks for sharing so generously!

10 years of lovely blog posts :0) I have enjoyed your blog so much. You make such beautiful quilts - beautifull fabrics, and beautiful stitches. I was inspired to make my flying geese quilt from your blog tutorial but most of all I am grateful that you inspired me to handquilt. What a gift your inspiration has been! Thank you for your many gorgeous pictures and a little peek into your part of the world.

Hartelijke groet Liliane

You inspired me to start a blog just a few months ago, Lucy, to help me keep up with doing creative things. Your quilts, knitting, and photography are beautiful! Your blog is truly one of my top happy places I go to for a glimpse of heaven. Please keep blogging. It is understandable if you need to take a rest, but if you do, please be sure to come back.

You have been my biggest quilting inspiration Lucy. 10 years of blogging full of creativity has, I am sure, encouraged so many quilters and inspired them. As you know, I closed my blogs as I was very concerned about the views when I don't know who is looking at my blog/s. We both have the same concerns. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything Lucy, you are a very special lady. Ann

Glad to have been able to share some of the last 10 yrs. with you. There is still one of your quilts that I want to make. I've collected the fabric for it and set it aside. I'll make some changes so it won't be a carbon copy but your quilt inspired me to want to do more.

Lucy, I only discovered you this year. Your work is so inspiring, I have gone back and read all of your past posting. You have the quality of writing happy and positive thoughts which is what I enjoy. We all have our private life problems and a blog like yours allows us, both you and your readers, to forget about these problems and just enjoy the quilt top, the new fabric, a photo of your little Featherweight sewing machine, some new yarn, or your latest project. Thank you for all the beautiful inspiration you give us. Judy

Your friend is so right! Your blogs have given me so much pleasure, so much inspiration over the years and luckily they brought you good things as well. Personally, at this moment, I would not like to be without my blog, it gives me a chance to look back but mostly because of the people I met (in person and online)because of it. I hope you feel the same and will keep on doing so. Thanks for chance to look back and catch up again. And here's to the next ten years! Proost!

Just discovered your blog Lucy - it's beautiful. 10 years is very long for blogging, you have persevered, even if changing along the way. You have created a very valuable personal record and a wonderful way to inspire and encourage others.

Congratulations on the 10 years Lucy, and thank you for sharing so much of your projects and lovely home. I have always enjoyed your posts and photos. I made a quilt you patterned for Quiltmania (the tulips), and even used the "Schoolbus orange" you chose, a color which I am sure I would have passed on usually. It has become one of my favorite quilts ! Your posts are serene and beautiful, I do hope you will continue.

You have the BEST blog in all of the internet that I have found for inspiration. I have even bought the mitten book you shared so I can learn to knit mitts. I will miss your old bogs as I always look back because your photos make me happy and your quilts make me want to make the same one like you.

Congratulations! And thank you for opening up your prior bog. I have enjoyed looking at it again. And because of what I read I actually ordered issue 70 of Quiltmania and it arrived today. I love the article about you, your quilts, and your home. You and your quilts are so inspiring. I love your other craft posts too. Thank you for sharing!!!!

Good luck on your journey. A lot of us started quilt blogs in 2005 or earlier. Being one of them who left I understand why you would want to stop. I stopped earlier. I enjoyed it when the quilt blogging community was smaller, Even though there was many countries involved, when blogs were created out of love and things were done out of friendship not for financial gain. I have enjoyed all of your photos on both blogs.

Thank you for opening up your first quilt blog if I have a chance I will go back to see what I remember. I enjoyed your and other quilt blogs that were not from the U.S. more than I ever enjoyed U.S. quilt blogs. I think part of that was for me I am not new to quilting and enjoyed the simplicity. There is a rhythim to your blog and a calmness which I can identify with since I do a lot of work by hand. I stopped reading most Quilting blogs years ago but still came back to yours and a few others.

I wish you the best and enjoy your privacy!

Dear Lucy, Yours was the first blog I followed. I have grown through your creativity. Thank you for your time and sharing. I have stayed with you through the years because I knew it would stretch me in my quilting. Your photography is inspiring and plan to try it soon. I have started my own blog, but keep it to quilt projects and don't share about my family. I think it is hard to open yourself to the public and respect your wish to reclaim your privacy. I would miss your posts, but if you decide to stop... Well...best wishes to you and your family!

I came across your blog sometime ago and put a shortcut to it on my desktop so I could come back and visit. I first got caught up in one of your 365 day posts. Could not stop looking at the pictures. Beautiful photography. I love checking out your quilt shots and projects. I especially love the comical shots of the Guinea Pigs. So precious. I'm guessing the pictures are giving us a peek into their personalities?

So today I see this piece you wrote about blogging for 10 years. Congratulations. Please don't get discouraged. You do a fabulous job. This blog is so inspiring. btw, your English is fabulous.
