Inspired by Janet Bolton

I think I've all books of Janet Bolton.
Somehow her work fascinates me.  This is her latest book. 

It came in yesterday. 

 Inside her book. Her work is so unique.

 I read every page of this book. It's very interesting, I can almost hear her talking...

Although it is out of my comfort zone I had to give it a try.

Here is my result.

I'm learning.

 It was hard for me to sew/applique the pieces with visible stitches. Not only visible but as Janet teaches: 'the stitches are more attractive for the eye when they are sewn irregular.'

I love to work without any pattern, let it grow under my hands and just listen to the encouraging words of the master, Janet. 

  This way I can put all my creativity into my needle, thread and fabrics.

It was a pleasure to create this one.  

I've already ideas for the next fabric picture :-)

Red fox and a finished quilt

A finish! 

I started this quilt back in 2008. 

It was a long time an UFO. 

I was inspired by a quilt in the book Passing on the Comfort by Ann Keuning-Tichelaar

I made a calculate mistake for the blocks. So they became big... very big. Anyway I like it.

It reminds me to a quilt on a farm or in a house in the Big Woods of Laura Ingalls. 

This quilt will be used on our bed.

Today I went to the dunes for a nice picture of the quilt and then this fox came along. 

It was an amazing meeting :-)

Happy Sweater

Last Friday I finished my sweater.  I washed and blocked it last weekend. Yesterday, I could try it on. For me a very exciting moment with a bit of fear.... Would it fit??
When I tried it on and took a look in the mirror I had an "oooh my god" moment.

I'm so happy with the result. The pattern is wonderful. 

I could make a picture of the folded sweater.

But I think you can see the result better when I have it on. 

(So sorry for the overload of pictures of myself... )

Mittens for Suzan

A friend of DD3 is in love with the mittens I knit.

My daughter asked me if I could knit her a pair as a surprise.

Of course.

Yesterday it was a rainy Sunday perfect to unwind on the couch with yarn and needles.

 I grabbed some leftovers in her colors.

Today DD3 will give them when she met her at school.

Knitted headband

DD3 asked me to knit a headband for her from yarn we bought on our trip this summer to Iceland.

Strips

Never get tired of sewing strips together..

Top is done and so is the little tiny strippy quilt for the little tiny bed I bought a while ago.
