Quiltmania

I'm so happy with the publication of my nine patch quilt in Quiltmania issue 107

They took a wonderful picture of it in a beautiful kitchen in which I could live.

Wrap-me-up Puppy

DD2 asked me if I could knit this 'Wrap-me-up-puppy' for her. 

It is a pattern from Susan B Anderson. I love her knitting designs. 

I have to admit that knitting this puppy was a challenge for me.

 First I choose the wrong yarn for this project. It was to thin.

With the second yarn I was more pleased. (It still can be better) 

The book is in English. The projects are all so cute. 

And after all I learned a lot about english knitting terms and how to knit them.

The little blanket was a left over yarn from years ago!

This tree is almost eaten by creatures/insects. Looks like a sceleton.

Lambing mitts

I finished my 'lambing mitts'. 

Since I don't have lambs ;-) I found a perfect way to use them when I take pictures during 

the cold.

It is a great pattern and very easy to knit. 

Tolt Yarn's blog is very inspiring. They went recently to Iceland. Take a look at the beautiful pictures they post on their blog. 

I used for my lambing mitts yarn from Drops: Nepal/color 7139 grey green 65% wool 35% alpaca

I placed these threads from my knitting project random 

in my garden for the birds who are busy with building their nests.

As you can see this big tit appreciates them very much. It is so fun to watch him busy. 

What a colorful nest she is going to have.

After weaving in all threads and sewing the ends together I can call this project finished.

I used a circular needle (addi) size 3mm.

Yarn: Holst Garn Supersoft. 

This yarn is available in more than 100 colors. It's a fingering weight shetland wool. Because of the spinning oil the yarn feels a bit thin and coarse but after a few washings the yarn becomes softer, gentle and more fluffy. Even after the first washing I noticed already a big difference.

I cast on 120 stitches and 

I knitted 3 rows stockinette stitch then a pattern from the book '200 fair isle motifs' by Mary Jane Mucklestone (is ook verkrijgbaar in het nederlands) then 3 rows stockinette stitch. Repeat till desire length. 

I used patterns from the book which are divisible by 120.

I knitted two handed by this technique from philosopher wool

Look at this picture. It's my last finished quilt top and my cowl. Isn't it fun. Color and pattern has everything to do with mood ;-)

Strips

A little while ago Tracey posted a link on her blog which is very interesting.

My eye was set on a simple but beautiful quilt on a bed.
(It was a only few seconds but enough for me)

I mentioned Tracey on the quilt. She loved it too and came to the splendid idea to make this quilt together. So we started cutting strips for each other and have sent it over the pond!

I sewed them random together in different widths.

 The wind wasn't cooperated with me, but you get the idea :-)

As soon as it is quilted I promise to show up with a better picture.

Folded and ready to baste. I love this quilt very much.
