Iceland II

I went to the Skogar museum.
It shows how people lived in Iceland years ago.
There are moss/turf houses and there is the first timber house built from driftwood.

I love the folkart designs in the crafts. They knitted their shoe soles .

The mittens are an inspiration to me. Just simply beautiful.

And o ooo, the color blue is everywhere, on the walls, furniture....
I have something with this fresh color blue. The color of the sky.

My kitchen at home is almost the same color as the kitchen in the museum :-)

Knitted  shoe soles.

Mittens.

I took these treasures home with me.
The little horse reminds me to the horseback riding we did.
It was a highlight of our trip to galop on an icelandic horse in such a beautiful scenery.

How beautiful! The knitting examples must have been particularly fun for you to see. You do such beautiful work yourself. I love your little souvenir horse. What a sweet reminder of a great trip. We had an Icelandic Pony at the therapeutic riding stable where I volunteered for years. She had a heart of gold! I miss her. Thanks for sharing your wonderful photographs.

I have become a little obsessed with Iceland after reading the books of Yrsa Sigurdardottir, so these posts were so interesting to me.

I would highly recommend her books. The 'Thora Gudmundsdottir' series is good; 'Why did you lie' and 'The undesired' even better. But my goodness "I remember you" was the most gripping and scary book I have read in a long, long time. So much so that I could not put it down and spent too much time reading when I should have done other things! I have one more to go, but dare not start reading it ust yet!

I love "Quilting with a past" which is so inspiring - your beautiful quilts; such accomplished knitting and lovely photographs. My only complaint is that I have to wait too long for another post from you!

Best wishes,
Julia
